• After Weeks-Long Halt, Water Shuttle Returns To Offering Free Rides Between Alameda And Oakland (patch.com) — Commuters in Alameda can once again hop aboard Woodstock, the free water shuttle linking Alameda Landing with Oakland's Jack London Square, after weeks of engine-related repairs and a cracked bracket delay. City officials say the 45-foot pontoon boat, which has carried over 251,000 passengers and 60,000 bikes since July 2024, resumed service Wednesday morning and has historically operated on 97 percent of scheduled days.
   

• Kitten Rescued From Rusty Metal Pipe At Abandoned Field In Alameda: Police (patch.com) — Alameda Animal Control and police recently teamed up to rescue a frightened kitten trapped deep inside a rusty metal pipe at an abandoned field near Ferry Point. After a careful extraction, officers cleaned up the kitten, nicknamed Rusty, and placed him with a foster parent who happened to be the dispatcher who first took the call.
