• Alameda, CA: 15 Year Old Zoe Stevens Missing, Police Issue At Risk Alert (theunionstar.com) — Alameda police are urgently asking residents to help find 15-year-old Zoe Stevens, last seen Friday afternoon near Encinal High School and later boarding a San Francisco–bound SF Bay Ferry. She's considered at-risk, may have a black Giant bicycle, and is known to frequent spots like the Encinal Boat Ramp and former base buildings. Anyone with information should call Alameda police at 510-337-8340.
   

• Eggy's on the move, Sweet Potatoes Up Beet Cafe shuts down and more restaurant closures (berkeleyside.org) — Three popular spots at Alameda's Harbor Bay Landing—La Val's Pizza, La Penca Azul, and China Villa—are temporarily closed because of plumbing problems, with a city inspection expected in early September. While other East Bay restaurants are also moving or shutting down, Alameda diners will especially feel the impact at 883 Island Drive until these local favorites can reopen.
   

• New USPS issue sets sail Sept. 12 honoring Coast Guard Academy's sesquicentennial (linns.com) — A new USPS forever stamp honoring the Coast Guard Academy's 150th anniversary features the cutter Bertholf, whose home port is Alameda, underscoring the city's role in national maritime security. The issue debuts at a Connecticut festival but spotlights Alameda's connection through the vessel's ongoing missions in national security, drug interdiction, and search and rescue.
