• Port of Oakland Turning Basins Project Advances to Design Phase (alamedapost.com) — Work to widen the Port of Oakland's turning basins is moving into detailed design, with part of the Inner Harbor expansion requiring excavation at the Continental Terminals Annex by Mitchell Avenue in Alameda. Local leaders, including Alameda's mayor, say the $642 million project will let larger ships turn safely, protect the region's role in global trade, and create new job opportunities once construction begins around 2028.
   

• Earthquake struck area near Dublin, CA: 2.4 magnitude reported on Sept. 15 (sacbee.com) — A small 2.4 magnitude earthquake shook part of Alameda County near Dublin around 1 p.m. Tuesday, a reminder of the region's ongoing seismic activity that also affects Alameda residents.
