• Port of Oakland has a 1,200-foot problem. The fix will cost $640 million (eastbaytimes.com) — A $640 million Army Corps project will widen the Oakland–Alameda estuary and expand the harbor turning basins so ultra‑large container ships can maneuver more safely and frequently. Starting construction in 2028, the work will dredge part of Alameda's north shoreline, send sediment to restore Solano County wetlands, and aims to keep the Port of Oakland competitive while supporting East Bay maritime jobs.
