📰 News we're reading

• Planning Board Hears Update on Roots Venue in Harbor Bay (alamedapost.com) — Alameda's Planning Board just reviewed detailed noise and traffic studies for the Oakland Roots' proposal to host pro soccer matches at their Harbor Bay facility starting in 2027. Consultants say match noise at nearby homes should stay within city standards, but traffic around Harbor Bay and through parts of Alameda remains a key concern as officials, residents, and businesses weigh the project's benefits and drawbacks.

• EBMUD Replacing Water Pipeline Between Alameda, Bay Farm Island (alamedapost.com) — A major EBMUD project is underway to replace the water pipeline between Alameda and Bay Farm Island, bringing years of construction, traffic changes, and some loud 24-hour work but improving seismic reliability of our water system. Expect lane closures, noise, a six‑month closure of the Island Drive Park & Ride, and temporary parking shifts, with completion and restoration targeted for spring 2028.
