Roof and Wall Collapse in Early Morning Structure Fire Saturday

A detached garage was severely damaged early Saturday morning in a residential structure fire in Alameda, firefighters said. The fire was reported in the 1000 block of Via Bahia in the Bay Farm Island area around 5:55 a.m.

Fire crews found a detached garage fully on fire and quickly extinguished it before any damage was done to a nearby residence. The damage to the garage was severe, however, causing a roof and wall to collapse, firefighters said.

An adjoining garage also sustained moderate damage, but no injuries were reported, according to firefighters. Police officers and utility crews also responded to the fire on Saturday.
