School Board Approves Union Contract
The union represents custodial, maintenance, and food service workers in the district.

The school board announced that it’s approved another union contract:
The Board of Education for the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) unanimously approved a contract with California State Employees Association Chapter 860 (CSEA 860) at its public meeting on July 22, 2015.
CSEA 860 represents custodial, maintenance, and food service workers in the district.

Under the terms of the three-year agreement, union members will receive an ongoing 5% raise in salary starting in 2015-2016, plus a $330 one-time bonus payment. The district and CSEA 860 also agreed on updated evaluation forms and revised job posting and transfer protocols. Both AUSD and the union retain the right to open two articles in the contract, plus salary, in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

“I am thankful to the members of our negotiating team who put in hard work to reach this agreement,” said Frank Muñoz, President of Alameda CSEA 860. “I believe this agreement is a fair one for all sides.”
In late June, the Board of Education also signed contracts with the Alameda Education Association (the teachers union) and CSEA 27 (which represents office/technical workers and paraprofessionals).
“I am grateful to both negotiating teams for being able to agree on terms and to now give our 860 partners the raise they very much deserve,” said Superintendent Sean McPhetridge. “The fact that we came to agreement with all three of our bargaining units before their contracts elapsed truly gives me hope that we have moved into a period of mutual respect and collaboration. This is what our district needs at this time, and this is what I believe we should strive to maintain.”
