Victim Sent To Hospital Following Alameda House Fire

A second person was treated at the scene. Both had to be rescued by firefighters.

ALAMEDA, CA — Two people were rescued from a burning building in Alameda early Saturday morning, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Lafayette Street just after 2 a.m. on reports of two people trapped inside a home that was on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters were able to locate and rescue the people through a bedroom window and quickly knock down the fire, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said both people were treated at the scene, and one was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

No other injuries were reported.

According to fire officials, the cause of the fire was due to combustible items placed in close proximity to a floor furnace. Heat and smoke damage was found throughout the home.
