Volunteer Campaign in Alameda for Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Do you have three hours to help your community the morning of October 14th?

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Alameda Domestic Violence Task Force seeks volunteers to assist with a campaign to spread awareness of domestic violence and the services available to help.

Do you have three hours to help your community the morning of October 14th?

Teams of volunteers will approach local businesses and request permission to post informative mini-posters offering support and resources for help to victims of domestic violence.

We’ll meet at nine am sharp at Alameda City Hall (2263 Santa Clara Avenue), where city leaders and service providers will kick off the campaign. You will receive all you need for this fun and helpful experience. (Overview, assigned businesses, talking points, and supplies.)

This is a project of the Alameda Domestic Violence Task Force, which is funded by the City of Alameda and led by Building Futures with Women and Children.

The Alameda Domestic Violence Task Force is a collaboration of local service providers, elected officials, municipal representatives and community- and faith-leaders, and is designed to assess and coordinate domestic violence prevention, intervention, and outreach services in the City of Alameda. Members include: Building Futures, Alameda Family Services, the Alameda Police Department, the City of Alameda, Alameda Hospital, Family Violence Law Center, Alameda Point Collaborative, Alameda's Social Service Human Relations Board, Girls Incorporated of the Island City, and the Alameda Boys & Girls Club.
