Albany High School Football Games Canceled

Both the JV and varsity games scheduled for Friday are canceled. (Breaking)

ALBANY, CA — Albany unified School District Superintendent Val Williams announced Friday afternoon that both JV and varsity football games vs. Jefferson High School scheduled for Friday have been canceled.

Williams blamed both extreme heat condition and poor air quality as the reasons for the cancellations.

The temperature Friday afternoon is hovering around 100 degrees, while a Spare the Air Alert is in effect for poor air quality. In addition to pollution generated here in the Bay Area, smoke has drifted down from northern California causing a haze and the smell of burning wood.
