Albany School District Budget 'Town Halls' Set Today

Parents, students and community members can weigh in on proposed $1.15M cuts. Several sessions planned for Saturday.

ALBANY, CA – The Albany Unified School District today is hosting several town-hall sessions for residents to learn more about the district's budget and possible reduction in programs and personnel.

"Due to a structural deficit created by the State of California, the Albany Unified School District needs to reduce ongoing expenditures by $1.15 million dollars beginning with the 2018-19 school year," school officials said. "We are faced with making important decisions about reducing programs and personnel.

To learn more about the budget and to provide your input, attend one of the meetings today -- Saturday, Oct. 21 -- at the Albany Middle School Gym. Times are: 1:15 p.m.; 2 p.m.; 2:45 p.m.; 3:30 p.m.; and 4:15 p.m.

"Please consider attending because we need your input to help shape AUSD schools by assisting us in prioritizing programs, positions, and policies while we balance the AUSD budget," the district said.
