Dear AUSD Community,
Find out what's happening in Albanyfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
I know that many of you are anxiously waiting to hear from us about what school will look like this fall, which is currently scheduled to begin August 25th. I'm writing to provide you with a brief update on our progress and share some important dates coming up.
On May 21st, the District began weekly meetings with our Reopening Albany Schools Planning Team to hash out three different scenarios for safely resuming school in the fall: 1) Hybrid; 2) Distance Learning; and 3) Schools fully open and back in session with modifications.
In addition to these planning team meetings, we have gathered input from several guidance documents; parent, teacher and student surveys; site and district leadership staff; and ongoing collaboration with Alameda County Office of Education, Alameda County Public Health Department and neighboring districts.
On June 22nd, we presented our report on the Road to Reopening Schools at the Board of Education meeting. You may review the material we presented at the meeting and hear the discussion in full at: https://albanyca.granicus.com/player/clip/2238?view_id=3 (beginning at 50:31).
On Thursday, July 9, the District will hold a Virtual Parent Forum from 6:00-7:15pm. This will be an additional opportunity for parents to weigh in and share thoughts on reopening schools. Details about this zoom meeting and how to participate will be posted on our District website next week. Please save the date and stay tuned for details.
On Tuesday, July 14, we will present proposals for final plans for the Fall 2020 school year to the Board of Education at a Special Meeting. The agenda and details on how to join this virtual meeting will also be posted on our website.
Please stay safe, healthy and encouraged.
