Beaumont Library Offers Curbside Holds Pickup & Shut-in Delivery

Service on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 to 3; Shut-in Delivery for District Residents Only

While our building is closed to the public, Beaumont Library is pleased to offer curbside pickup of holds from our parking lot and delivery of holds to shut-ins who are residents of the district.

These are the requirements for this service:

• Customers must receive notice from the Library that their holds are ready to be picked up before coming to the Library. No exceptions will be made.

• Holds can only be picked up on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and all items will be checked out to you and sanitized for your safety.

• When you arrive at the library for curbside pickup, you must call 951- 845-1357 to identify yourself and let staff know you have arrived. No service other than hold pickups is allowed (except to update library cards as necessary).

• If you leave your vehicle, you must wear a facial covering and maintain 6-foot social distancing, or service may be refused. Wait for staff to place your items on the pickup table before approaching. If you do not wish to leave your vehicle, and can open your trunk remotely, staff will place the hold items in your trunk.

• If you are unable to pick up your items within 7 days of receiving your pickup notice, those holds will be canceled and the items will go to the next customers waiting or be returned to the shelf if no other holds have been placed on them.

• Per library policy, no more than 10 items may be placed on hold at any one time, and you must take all items that are ready for you when you arrive for pickup.

• All return items must be placed in one of the Library’s book returns— located on the side of the parking lot alley, as well as next to the California Avenue entrance.

• At this time, payment of any pre-existing fines and fees can only be handled through the mail or by credit card over the telephone.

If you have items to return, our book drops on California Avenue and next to the library parking lot remain open and are being emptied on a regular basis, but fines are suspended at this time.

Delivery service of holds to shut-ins who live in our district is being offered by emailing us at bookmobile@bld.lib.ca.us or calling 951-845-1357.

Remember, even if you cannot take advantage of these services, we have many digital options available to our cardholders for free, such as e-books, e-audiobooks, and magazines, as well as streaming music, movies, and TV.

If you are a district resident who does not have a Beaumont Library card, you can get our new "Instant Digital Card" in 30 seconds from our website. It will allow you to check out e-books and e-audiobooks from Overdrive, the largest provider of digital materials to libraries around the world!

You can research your family history now, too! Ancestry is temporarily allowing remote access for patrons. To access this just log into your patron account here, then click the "Summary" button to the left and you will find the link for Ancestry towards the top of the page.

Learn more about these 24/7 services by going to bld.lib.ca.us and no need to even visit our building!

If you are unable to get to the Internet some other way, it is also important to point out that Beaumont Library's 1-Gigabit broadband wi-fi signal is accessible from the library parking lot during traditional library hours.

Beaumont Library, a California Special District independent of both city and county government, provides library services to Beaumont and Cherry Valley and is located at 125 E. Eighth Street in Beaumont. Call 951-845-1357 or visit bld.lib.ca.us for more information.
