Cabazon Men Charged With Attempted Murder in Shooting of Local Woman

The men are charged with attempted murder and sentence-enhancing allegations of intentionally using a firearm.

BANNING, CA - Attempted murder charges were filed Wednesday against two men who allegedly shot a woman multiple times at a Cabazon home, leaving her hospitalized in critical condition.

Lanh Bui, 25, and Ernie Saldana, 48, both of Cabazon, are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon via in-custody video arraignment in Banning. Both men are being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in lieu of $1 million bail.

The men are charged with attempted murder and sentence-enhancing allegations of intentionally using a firearm.

Bui and Saldana were arrested Saturday at the scene of the shooting.

"Upon arrival, Cabazon Station Deputies located a 46-year-old, white, female adult in the front yard of the residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds," sheriff's Sgt. Beatty said in a news release following the incident.

Authorities withheld the name of the victim, who was hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators have not offered a motive for the shooting.
