1 Dead, 2 Missing After 6 People Swept Away During IE Rainstorm
A search continues for two people who are still missing.

ONTARIO, CA — Six people who were in an Ontario wash amid Tuesday's rainstorm were swept downstream, and one person was found dead while two others are still missing, authorities reported.
"One person has been found deceased and two more are still missing," the Ontario Fire Department tweeted just after 2 p.m. "Multiple air and ground resources still assigned."
As of 6:30 p.m., search efforts were continuing, with officials expected to provide another update Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the deceased was a homeless man who was found in a basin near the intersection of E. Philadelphia Street and S. Baker Avenue.
The Ontario Fire Department tweeted that at approximately 9:45 a.m. the agency received reports of six people in a wash in the 1200 block of E. 4th Street. First responders reported seeing the six being swept downstream by the swift-moving current.

The fire department reported around noon that three people were rescued. An update on their condition was not provided.
The Ontario Fire Department shared a video clip on Twitter of the dangerous conditions in the wash.
"Remember, just 6 inches of water can sweep you away. Stay clear of all moving water!" the agency tweeted.

It's unclear whether all six people were homeless and may have been staying at encampments in and along the wash.
