Woman, 23, Killed in 605 Freeway Crash

A woman was killed and two other people were injured today in a crash that involved at least two vehicles on the San Gabriel (605) Freeway in Los Alamitos.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the crash on the southbound freeway near Katella Avenue at 2:09 a.m., said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

Brenda Coronel, 23, who was a passenger in a Honda, died at the scene, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office, which did not list a place of residence for her.

The driver, also a woman in her 20s, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, said Concialdi, who added that the women were sorority sisters.

A man in a BMW also suffered moderate injuries and was also transported to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, according to Concialdi.
