Mob Attacks Two Men As They Walk In Berkeley
One victim was injured in the unprovoked attack.
BERKELEY, CA — Police are investigating an alleged assault near the University of California at Berkeley campus late Sunday night.
Around midnight two male individuals, one of whom is a university student, were walking in the vicinity of Channing Way and Piedmont Avenue and were confronted by a group of eight to 10 suspects who began punching the victims without provocation, according to police.
The victims fled, but encountered the suspects again shortly afterward. During the second encounter, one of the suspects brandished a handgun before the victims fled again.

One victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspects were all described as being male, but no further details were immediately available.
