Warby Parker To Open In Berkeley

Check out the new store on Fourth Street.

BERKELEY, CA — While other retail chains are shuttering stores, eyeglass company Warby Parker has announced that it will open 25 stores this year, including one at 1911 Fourth St. in Berkeley. The store's opening is set for June 24.

This is Warby Parker's first store in Berkeley and its tenth in California. The decor will be unique. According to the company, "We’ve worked with our friend and longtime collaborator Jason Munn to create a sunny original mural, and we’ve got custom-designed porthole windows on the wall above some comfy seating, giving the store laidback nautical flair."

If you've checked them out online, that's where they started, you'll now have the opportunity to try on their full collection of eyeglasses and sunglasses including their newest summer releases.

In case you hadn't heard, co-founder and co-CEO Dave Gilboa is a UC Berkeley alum. "As a proud Cal alum (GO BEARS) I couldn't be more excited to make a home on Fourth Street," Gilboa said. "Berkeley's literary history, inimitable energy, and socially conscious spirit have made it an exciting city for decades. We're thrilled to be here."

So thrilled that Warby Parker is releasing a pair of limited-edition, Berkeley-exclusive sunglasses: Downing in Striped Indigo with Flash Mirrored Iridescent lenses.
