$25 Million Bail For Suspect In Burlingame Murder As Disturbing Details Released
BREAKING: New information suggests part of what happened the night a local man was found stabbed to death, according to prosecutors.

BURLINGAME, CA — Prosecutors have charged a Burlingame woman with murder in the death of her lover Saturday night at their home, San Mateo County's District Attorney says. Meanwhile, new information from the district attorney's office indicates that 53-year-old Edward Allison was stabbed in the heart with a kitchen knife, killing him.
The deadly scene unfolded sometime between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday at a home which Allison shared with the murder suspect, 36-year-old Mia Smith, according to District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe. It was during that half-hour time span that Allison's visiting 20-year-old son headed out for a walk with his infant son who had been acting fussy.
When the son returned, the door to the home was locked so he knocked on the door. Smith eventually let him in, at which point he allegedly found his dad lying on a hallway floor, according to Wagstaffe. He had been stabbed in the chest and some blood was visible.

"[Smith] stabbed [the] victim twice in the chest with a kitchen knife," Wagstaffe said in a report. "The knife struck the heart, killing the victim. [Smith] tried to cover up the killing when the son returned and found his father on the floor in a hallway."
The son then convinced the woman to call 911, which she did, according to The Mercury News. Police say they arrived at the house around 9:40 p.m.

Wagstaffe says there is "no information about what occurred during that 30 minute period when the homicide occurred," as Smith has declined to give her account of what happened.
Police said Smith was at the home when they arrived and she was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.
She's scheduled to appear in court Aug. 5 to enter a plea, where she'll be represented by an attorney with the county's private defender program. On Tuesday, bail was set at $25,000,000 and the defendant remained in custody as of Wednesday, according to jail records.
Wagstaffe said Smith was an employee of Union Bank in Burlingame.
