Newsha Ajami, director of urban water policy at Stanford University’s Water in the West program, will describe California’s complex and often controversial water system and how we need to rethink how it is managed in order to save money and energy and be less vulnerable to droughts. For example, new technology will soon make it possible to reuse water in place instead of using energy to pipe it long distances.
