Peninsula Caltrain Station Losing Parking Spots

Nearly 1/3 of the station's parking spots will be unavailable for the foreseeable future. (BREAKING)

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Parking at the South San Francisco Caltrain Station is about to get even tougher. Nearly one-third of the slots will soon be blocked off for construction work, officials announced Wednesday.

A total of 11 parking spaces will be blocked off beginning Monday, Jan. 8, Caltrain Spokesman Dan Lieberman said. That leaves 29 available spaces, plus two ADA spaces.

The work is part of a modernization project underway in South San Francisco.

"The South San Francisco Station Project will deliver a new, modern station for Caltrain riders," Lieberman said in a news release. "The new station is expected to be complete by summer of 2019."

Lieberman recommended using other transit options if the limited parking will affect you. He suggested SamTrans routes 37, 38, 131 and 133 and the San Bruno Caltrain Station.
