Thousands Lose Power on the Peninsula: Outage Alert

The El Camino corridor was affected, officials say.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – Thousands of residents and businesses were without power Tuesday afternoon on the Peninsula, officials report.

San Mateo County officials warned at 11:30 a.m. that electricity was out in the Millbrae area, affecting the El Camino corridor.

According to the PG&E outage center, nearly 3,000 people were affected as of 12:35 p.m. But by 2:40 p.m., only 134 remained without power.

"Please use caution and treat out of service traffic lights as 4 way stop signs," SMC officials warned.

PG&E officials tell Patch the cause is still under investigation.

"PG&E crews worked safely and as quickly as possibe to restore power to our customers," PG&E Spokeswoman Andrea Menniti said.
