Young Burlingame Artists Urged To Enter 'Art Takes A Bus Ride'
A collaborative effort between SamTrans & the SMC Office of Education engages students in the classroom and emphasizes arts in the community

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Now in its 14th year, SamTrans is holding its annual Art Takes a Bus Ride contest for young artists throughout San Mateo County.
The contest invites local students to submit artistic creations for the theme “The Wild Side of SamTrans.” The winning entries will be displayed as a wrap on a SamTrans bus for an entire year. The winning student art also will be displayed on ad cards inside SamTrans buses. The collaborative effort between SamTrans and the San Mateo County Office of Education engages students in the classroom and emphasizes arts in the community.
Schools throughout San Mateo County will be promoting the contest to their students. Submissions can come from anyone from grades 1 through 6, with one winner selected from each grade. All submissions must be received by close of business on Friday, March 23, and can be sent either through participating schools, or directly to the San Mateo County Office of Education, 101 Twin Dolphin Dr., Redwood City, CA 94065.

The Art Bus featuring last year’s winners will be on display on Sunday, March 4, at the San Mateo County STEM Fair and Arts Expo.
The winning entrants will also be honored with special recognition certificates at the SamTrans Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, June 6. The board meeting begins at 2 p.m. and takes place at SamTrans headquarters on1250 San Carlos Avenue in San Carlos.
