Record Store Day Spins into Calabasas

Set your alarm and make a shopping list: Saturday is Record Store Day!

On Saturday the needle drops on the eighth annual Record Store Day. Record collectors, crate diggers, audiophiles, and music geeks will gather at record shops around Southern California to purchase limited edition vinyl, cassettes, and compact discs as well as hear live music and connect with like minded hobbyists.

One of this year’s most notable releases includes KMD’s second LP. Before donning a mask as MF Doom, Daniel Dumile was KMD’s Zev Love X. KMD, featured his brother DJ Subroc. The LP was shelved for nearly a decade following the death of DJ Subroc, who was killed in a car wreck shortly after the recording was made. The deluxe Record Store Day release features pop-up book packaging, a 7-inch record and a CD.

Other Exclusive Record Store Day releases include Metallica, The Flaming Lips, David Bowie, Stooges, The Zombies, Jeff Beck, The Grateful Dead, NWA, the Kinks, Willie Nelson, OFF!, Dolly Parton, Otis Redding, Frank Sinatra, U2, The Buzzcocks, The Replacements, Johnny Cash, Miles Davis, Deep Purple, the Doors, Bob Dylan, Electric Wizard, Brian Eno, Marvin Gaye and Adam and the Ants.
