Deputies Extinguish Fire Discovered Near Homeless Encampment
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said they have been working with property owners on abatement efforts to help prevent fires.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Deputies in Santa Cruz County quickly extinguished a small brush fire reported near some homeless encampments Wednesday. The blaze was discovered near Pajaro Circle and Thicket Lane, according to officials.
“With the amount of fires around California currently, we take this seriously,” sheriff’s office officials said. “For the past few months, our Community Policing Team and Cal Fire have been working with several property owners that own this property to clean up the camps and clear brush.”
No one was injured during the blaze.
