• Capitola paddleboarder reports being attacked by a possible sea lion (mercurynews.com) — A longtime local paddleboarder says she was knocked into the water and bitten on her hands, arms, feet, and even pulled by the hair by a suspected sea lion between Privates Beach and the Capitola Wharf on September 23. While experts stress such attacks are rare and the animal wasn't identified, the case is prompting fresh caution for Capitola residents who regularly enjoy the ocean.
