About Optimist Club of Carlsbad
Founded in 1956, the Optimist Club of Carlsbad is one of the oldest local community service organizations in Carlsbad, California. For nearly 55 years, our Club has supported organizations from Carlsbad and throughout Northern San Diego County that are committed to the betterment of youth.
Our Club is a long time supporter of Special Olympics, the Boy Scouts, and the Girl Scouts. In recent years, our Club has teamed up with local businesses to host a Christmas party for children from the Carlsbad area who lost a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Club also co-sponsors the Eric Sears Memorial 5K Run/Walk, which raises funds for scholarships for Carlsbad High School students. Additionally, the Club awards several scholarships each year to graduating seniors from area high schools.
