Schools Close In Castro Valley: Coronavirus

The school board reached its decision on Friday.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Castro Valley Unified School District has all closed schools, effective immediately, in an effort to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, according to a message to the community from Superintendent Parvin Ahmadi.

Schools will be closed through March, with an initial reopening date set for April 1. Spring Break is still scheduled for April 13-17.

On Monday, teachers will prepare for distance learning. On Tuesday, students may come to school to pick up materials, if needed. School principals will email families with more specifics.

"Grab and Go" breakfasts will be available 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch will be available 11:30 to 12:30 at the following five schools:
  • Castro Valley Elementary School
  • Marshall Elementary School
  • Creekside Middle School
  • Castro Valley High School
  • Redwood High School

The food service will begin on Wednesday.
