CHERRYLAND, CA — Fire crews put out a fire that started in an oven at a home in unincorporated Cherryland in Alameda County on Wednesday evening, county fire officials said.

Firefighters responded at 7:15 p.m. to the fire reported in the 300 block of Willow Avenue near Hayward.

Smoke was coming from the front door of the split-level home and all residents had gotten outside safely, Alameda County fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

Crews found a contained oven fire and contained it quickly, then brought the stove and oven outside to make sure the flames were fully extinguished, Knowles said.

No injuries were reported and the residents were allowed back into the home, which sustained only light smoke damage, she said.
