Driver Trapped In Horrific Castro Valley Crash
Firefighters spent about 35 minutes cutting the driver out of the vehicle.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Firefighters spent about 35 minutes cutting a seriously injured driver out of his vehicle in Castro Valley on Saturday. An ambulance rushed him to the hospital with face and ankle trauma. The victim has not been identified.
The Alameda County Fire Department received the call at 5:50 p.m. The crash happened at the intersection of Castro Valley Boulevard and Strobridge Avenue.
According tot he fire department, "A male driver suffered a medical event while driving, lost control of his vehicle, struck a tree and became pinned in the car. Despite the vehicle sustaining extensive front-end damage and intrusion into the driver's compartment occurring, firefighters extricated the patient, who was entangled in the vehicle's dashboard, gas & brake pedals, within 35 minutes."

Sheriff's deputies provided traffic control throughout the incident.
There were no other reports of injuries to community members or public safety personnel.
