Senator Corbett Expected to Continue Representing District 10
If the redistricting map gets adopted, San Lorenzo would continue to share a Senator with its nearby neighbors, except for San Leandro.
State Senator Ellen Corbett will continue to represent her current district, even though she was essentially drawn out of it in the latest redistricting map released today.
Sen. Corbett lives in San Leandro. She served on the San Leandro city council from 1990 to 1994 and as mayor from 1994 to 1998.
If the map is adopted (commissioners must vote to approve new State Senate, State Assembly and Congressional districts by Aug. 15) Corbett would still continue to represent the current 10th District, which includes San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward, Pleasanton, Union City, Fremont, Newark, Sunol, Milpitas and parts of Castro Valley and San Jose.

The new district, which will likely remain the 10th, swaps out San Leandro, Sunol and Pleasanton but gains all of Castro Valley plus Santa Clara.
Corbett was first elected to the senate in 2006. She will be termed out in 2014.
