La Verne’s Police Department will be getting some help from neighboring Pomona Police so that they may meet a required long rifle qualification.

La Verne Police Officers are required to qualify once a year with long rifles, according to police officials. But the La Verne Police Department range does not accommodate long rifles, which requires the use of an outdoor range, officials said.

A staff report recommending La Verne’s City Council authorize the City Manager to sign and approve the memorandum of understanding between the City of Pomona and La Verne was presented to the council on April 1.
