CCHS Friendship Club Carries Roth's Legacy Forward (culvercitycrossroads.com) — Culver City High School is honoring beloved educator John Ryan Roth by launching the student-led Friendship Club, which brings students with and without disabilities together. Funded partly by an earlier Inclusion Club he advised, the program aims to strengthen belonging, support special education students, and keep Roth's decades-long legacy of inclusion alive across the CCHS campus.
   

2. Flock Safety/ALP Technology – Discussions Continue, Future Agenda Item Takes Shape (culvercitycrossroads.com) — Culver City officials are continuing their review of Flock Safety's automated license plate reader technology, with an independent, vendor-neutral assessment now underway. The City Council plans a future meeting where police, Flock representatives, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation will discuss public safety benefits, privacy, data governance, and security safeguards before deciding how the city should move forward.
   

3. Firefighters Tackle Blaze Inside Centinela Freeway Structure (westsidecurrent.com) — Culver City firefighters and police quickly shut down part of Centinela Avenue Friday after a fire broke out inside a freeway overpass, forcing evacuations while crews checked the bridge's safety. Caltrans inspected the structure before the road reopened, and officials noted ongoing concerns about people prying open access covers under nearby freeway bridges.
   

4. GR Properties USA secures $62 million refinancing loan for Culver City residential complex (westsidetoday.com) — A newly built mixed-use complex at 10375 Washington Blvd. in Culver City, the Lana development, has secured a $62 million bridge loan to refinance its construction debt. The seven-story building offers 139 apartments plus ground-floor retail, and includes amenities like a pool, rooftop lounge, coworking space, fitness center, and EV charging that will shape local housing and neighborhood activity.
   

5. Marie Aragon Named CEO at Southern California Hospital at Culver City (culvercityobserver.com) — Southern California Hospital at Culver City has promoted longtime nurse-leader Marie Aragon to CEO, putting an all-women executive team in charge of the 420-bed community hospital. She's overseeing construction of a new emergency department ahead of the 2028 Olympics, when Culver City will host New Zealand's delegation, and is emphasizing staff input, patient safety, and community partnerships in her first-year priorities.
