DANVILLE, CA – A 37-year-old Danville dog walker was arrested last week for alleged animal abuse after the owner of a pup named Ollie reviewed her home-surveillance video and saw the man she hired appearing to kick and yell at her pet, officials said.

Adam Vavrus faces a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty and was released on a $5,000 bond, said Geoff Gillette, spokesperson for the Danville Police Department.

Ollie's owner, Miranda Fulks, told ABC 7 News that she hired the person through the dog-walking app Wag!, and checked her security footage after he complained about her dog.

"Right behind that, came this enormous amount of anger. How could you do that?" Fulks said in an interview.

Fulks brought the video to the Danville authorities, who viewed it and launched an investigation, said Lt. Doug Muse.

"We looked at it and recognized it as a crime," Muse said, adding that the case then was presented to the district attorney's office. Officials there agreed, and an arrest warrant was issued for Vavrus.
