Community members can apply by Nov. 4 to help shape local development, parks, historic preservation, and mosquito and vector control services that directly affect daily life in Danville.

High school football top 10: Riordan holds off St. Ignatius; shakeup in top five (newsbreak.com) — Monte Vista High in Danville is surging at 6-0 after a dominant 47-7 win over Livermore, with another big home-and-home stretch looming against De La Salle and California High. The broader roundup tracks how other Bay Area powers, including Riordan, Serra, and San Ramon Valley, are shaking up the regional top 10 and what that means for upcoming matchups.
   

3. Men killed in two East Bay freeway collisions are identified (mercurynews.com) — A 39-year-old Danville resident, Bradley Marshall, was identified as the driver killed when his pickup hit the rear of a tractor-trailer on I-80 in Berkeley Friday afternoon. Authorities also named a Redwood City motorcyclist killed in a separate Hayward crash, with both collisions still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
   

4. Danville Road project tests innovative recycling method to cut costs and carbon (nbcbayarea.com) — Work on Sycamore Valley Road in Danville is testing a recycling-based paving method that reuses old asphalt to create a new surface, cutting waste and truck trips. Crews say the "cold-in-place" process could slash costs by about 75%, potentially freeing up money to repair more local roads while shrinking the project's carbon footprint.
