‘Racist and Homophobic Graffiti’ Found on Bus that Services Danville High School, Officials Say

The principal of Monte Vista High School sent a letter home to parents to notify them of the most recent incident.

DANVILLE, CA — School officials in Danville are investigating yet another report of race-related graffiti relating to Monte Vista High School. The graffiti, which was described by school officials as racist and homophobic, was found over the weekend on a TRAFFIX bus that serves Monte Vista High School students. School officials were not able to release any additional information but did say Danville police have started an investigation. School officials will resume their investigation once students return to class next week.

On Monday, Dr. Kevin Ahern, the principal of Monte Vista High School, sent a letter home to parents to notify them of the graffiti.

The incident follows the discovery of race-related graffiti found in a boys’ bathroom on the school campus last week. A student discovered the words “whites” and “colored” written above urinals on campus. Officials reported the incident to police and removed the graffiti. In response to the incident, officials held a school-wide assembly and a lunch meeting in the gym on Thursday.
