• Strong Start At UC Davis Aggie Invitational (ucdavisaggies.com) — UC Davis men's tennis opened its fall season in Davis with a perfect day at the Aggie Invitational, winning all seven matches at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. Local fans can follow Aggie players into Saturday's singles and doubles semifinals and quarterfinals, with finals still to be scheduled based on who advances. 
• Copper wire thefts hit Yolo County as 3 Sacramento residents arrested in Woodland (sacbee.com) — Copper wire thefts are hitting areas from south of Davis through northern Yolo County, with recent arrests in Woodland and ongoing investigations into damage to agricultural pumps. Local farmers and residents are being warned that losses extend beyond the metal's value, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Yolo County Sheriff's Office or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers.
