Driver Accused Of Murder In Vacaville Crash That Killed Woman
BREAKING: The 65-year-old alleged DUI driver was re-arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder, police said.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A man accused of driving drunk during a collision Monday evening in Vacaville, which resulted in the death of a 48-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of murder, police said Thursday. The collision occurred at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Nut Tree and Marshall roads.
After receiving multiple 911 calls, officers responded and found that a Honda sedan had collided with a GMC SUV. The woman in the Honda appeared to be trapped inside and was suffering from serious injuries. After extricating her, she was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a short while later. She has
been identified as Cynthia Clay, according to police.
The driver of the GMC was unhurt, but appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Investigators believe he ran a red light, broad-siding the Honda.

The driver of the GMC, identified as 65-year-old Thomas Astarita of Vacaville, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI resulting in injuries and vehicular manslaughter. Shortly after his initial arrest, Astarita posted
bail, police said.
After investigating and discovering new details, police and the district attorney's office decided to arrest Astarita on suspicion of murder and issued a no-bail arrest warrant. Astarita was apprehended Thursday afternoon and booked into the Solano County Jail, according to police.
