A 31-year-old man was killed early Thursday when he crashed into a concrete divider wall trying to merge onto 680.
DUBLIN, CA - A 31-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning in a collision near the intersection of 580 and 680, according to the California Highway Patrol. This marks the third fatal crash in the Tri-Valley since Thanksgiving, following collision in unincorporated Livermore on Thanksgiving Day and a rollover crash down a 580 embankment on Nov. 29.
On Thursday at about 3:10 a.m., a 2001 BMW 540i speeding westbound on 580 crashed into a concrete divider wall and overturned while trying to take the ramp to northbound 680, CHP-Dublin Officer Tyler Hahn told Patch. Officers found the man unresponsive and still in his seatbelt. They pronounced him dead at the scene, Hahn said.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:48 a.m. and closed the offramp from westbound 580 to 680 northbound until 5:07 a.m.
