Garamendi Secures $500,000 for El Cerrito BART Station (house.gov) — El Cerrito Plaza BART is getting a $500,000 federal boost to replace old fluorescent fixtures with energy‑efficient LED lighting, improving safety and cutting power use by about half. The funding, secured by Rep. John Garamendi, is part of a larger infrastructure package and also supports similar upgrades at Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point stations.

• Trevor Reed Nelson (padailypost.com) — Longtime architect and folk dancer Trevor Reed Nelson, who graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1952, has died after a long illness. His life took him from early travels in Europe to a wide‑ranging Bay Area architecture career, deep involvement in folk dancing, and a close bond with his daughter Rosemary and extended family.
