It’s that time of year! The 44th annual Bratwurst and Beer Festival will be held on Sunday, April 24th 2016 starting at 12:00pm. The Olivenhain Town Council extends a heartfelt thanks to James Jam for being the title sponsor for the 10th consecutive year! Past events have featured a petting zoo for children and local beers for adults such as Ballast Point, Green Flash, New English Brewing, Pizza Port, Sierra Nevada and Stone! One of the keys to serving the beer properly is having it arrive on the morning of the event nice and cold. Friends and neighbors, you won’t want to miss this year as the cold beer, hot brats, and Cowboy music always ensures an excitement time at the Bratwurst and Beer Festival! James Jam will be around for the entire event mingling with the crowds. The kids always have a great time bouncing in the inflatable castle, dancing, exploring the historic Olivenhain Town Meeting Hall and playing with their neighborhood friends. Mom and dad get to socialize with their neighbors—new and old—all the while sampling some great beers and being treated to delightful spread of authentic German food. Weather is always wonderful and it’s heartwarming to see all the circles of chairs attendees set up. Keep in mind that all the proceeds from the event go toward keeping the historic buildings and grounds maintained and upgraded as necessary. Tickets to the event can be purchased at the event on the grounds of the historic meeting hall, located on Rancho Santa Fe Road between Seventh St & Eighth St. Adult tickets for food and beer or wine are $25 for the public and $20 for town council members. Food and soda tickets for kids age 6 to 12 are $5; anyone 13 and up pays $15. Children age 5 and under eat for free. The meal includes bratwurst or hot dogs, sauerkraut, potato salad, rolls, chips and brownies. Organizers encourage people to bring folding chairs, cushions or picnic blankets. Dogs are welcome!
