• Tips sought in major-injury Encinitas hit-and-run collision (10news.com) — Authorities are asking Encinitas residents for help identifying the driver of a silver 2012–2014 Toyota Prius V involved in an August 16 hit-and-run that seriously injured a 49-year-old man on Glen Arbor Drive. Investigators recovered a passenger-side headlight washer at the scene, and Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for anonymous tips that could solve the case.
   

• The Encinitas City Council wants to remove a protected bike lane. A state senator is trying to save it. (kpbs.org) — Encinitas residents face a high-stakes fight over the protected bike lane on Santa Fe Drive by San Dieguito Academy, as a state budget bill could block the City Council's plan to redesign it and force repayment of $3.09 million. City leaders argue emergency access and driver confusion demand a change, while Sen. Catherine Blakespear and bike advocates insist the existing protected lane is safer and should stay.
   

• Encinitas Chamber honors five outstanding seniors at first Rising Star Breakfast of 2026–27 school year (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Encinitas students and families can celebrate five local high school seniors honored at the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce's first Rising Star Breakfast of the 2026–27 school year. The program, backed by MiraCosta College and community sponsors, highlights teens' leadership, service, and resilience, and invites honorees to compete for scholarships awarded at the Chamber's Salute to Education ceremony next May.
