• Parents urge city to resolve dispute with Encinitas school district over renovation project (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Parents are pressing Encinitas officials to quickly resolve a permitting dispute with the Encinitas Union School District so the major rebuild of Paul Ecke-Central Elementary can move forward and avoid long delays and rising costs. City leaders say they're committed but still worried about traffic backups on Vulcan Avenue and stormwater issues, while students remain temporarily housed at El Camino Creek and Park Dale Lane elementaries.
   

• Encinitas City Council votes to investigate red-light pilot program (10news.com) — Encinitas is moving a step closer to bringing back red-light cameras, with the City Council directing staff to study a new state pilot program aimed at curbing dangerous driving at local intersections. Safe Streets Encinitas advocates say recent child deaths and frequent cyclist and pedestrian fatalities show the urgency, while new rules would make violations civil penalties with lower fines and added privacy protections.
   

• Starbucks Closing 64 California Locations: Full List of Stores (news-usa.today) — One of the 64 California Starbucks locations expected to close is on Leucadia Boulevard in Encinitas, meaning local regulars may soon lose a familiar coffee stop. Crowdsourced tracking of the Starbucks app suggests these stores will show as closed and post official signage this weekend as part of a broader corporate downsizing.
