CALIFORNIA – With the start of every new year, it's natural to look back on the year before it. California had a tumultuous 2018. From the Camp and Woolsey wildfires that raged through both ends of the state, to a contentious midterm election, a lot happened in the Golden State in 2018.

However, with every hardship there is an act of kindness to accompany it. Here are the top 10 stories from California in 2018 that will melt your heart.

1. This community rallied together to help a doughnut shopkeeper get home to his sick wife.

2. A helicopter crew braved a raging fire to rescue a trapped trio, and it was caught on video.
