Tarzana Apartment Building Blaze Extinguished

The fire broke out on the 5900 block of N. Reseda Boulevard Monday afternoon.

A non-injury blaze broke out today at a three-story apartment building in Tarzana.

The blaze at 5900 N. Reseda Blvd. was reported at 1:07 p.m. and was extinguished in 19 minutes by about 50 firefighters, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Matt Spence said.

"It was initially reported as fire on the roof,'' Spence said, ``but it turned out to be a fire in the stairwell that started on the first floor and extended up to the top floor.''
