Major corporations under investigation for wage theft in Fresno, city attorney says (fresnobee.com) — Fresno's City Attorney says three major corporations are under active investigation for alleged wage theft affecting local workers, alongside 32 open cases totaling an estimated $814,000 in unpaid wages. The city's Wage Protection Program has already filed several lawsuits, declined weaker cases against small businesses, and quietly secured settlements returning $42,000 to workers. State grants currently fund the program's ongoing enforcement efforts.
   

2. Fatal shooting investigation underway in Fresno (yourcentralvalley.com) — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that left a man dead inside a garage near Hampton Way and Bengston Avenue in Fresno on Saturday afternoon. Investigators believe multiple men in dark clothing may be involved and are treating it as an isolated incident. Officers and homicide detectives remain on scene and are asking anyone with information to contact Fresno police.

4. New California law raises farmworker minimum wage to $19.75 an hour (abc30.com) — Farmworkers in Fresno County and across California will see their minimum wage rise to $19.75 an hour starting January 1 under a new state law, affecting both H-2A and local workers doing the same jobs. Fresno County grower Joe Del Bosque and others say the increase helps low-paid workers but could also push up farm costs, food prices, and potentially reduce hours or jobs.
   

5. Update: Teapot Fire in Fresno County - Oct. 3 status (modbee.com) — A new wildfire called the Teapot Fire was discovered Saturday morning on federal land in Fresno County and is currently classified as a low-complexity Type 5 incident. Officials have not yet reported containment progress or a cause, so Fresno County residents should stay alert for further updates in case conditions change or smoke and access issues develop nearby.
