Christopher Manson honored by Fire Dept.

Healdsburg 'Firefighter of the Year' recognized for commitment and enthusiasm

Christopher Manson, a firefighter with the s Reserve Fire Unit, was recognized as the Healdsburg's "Firefighter of the Year" at Monday night's Healdsburg City Council Meeting.

Manson received the honor for his industriousness and a dogged spirit, according to

“The officers, captains and chief officers get together and we look at participation, enthusiasm and overall responsibility with the organization,” Adams said. “Chris Manson stands out against everybody – always when we have multiple calls it becomes increasingly difficult to get participation from reserves … and he was just a consistent force during times of need.”

Adams said reserve firefighters are particularly important for multiple car fires and events requiring “multiple aid” – fires that involve two or more fire departments from different towns.

According to statement put out by the Healdsburg Fire Department, Manson's achievements this year included: responding to over 300 calls; beginning training for engineer certification; participating in over 100 training hours; and dedicating over 2,900 hours to the fire department.
