Deputies Warn Of Area Phone Scam
The fraudulent caller ID makes it appear a government employee is calling, police said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies say that over the last few days a Windsor resident has been targeted by a man attempting to solicit personal information by calling from a number disguised as a government employee's phone line.
Deputies say the call probably originated from somewhere outside the country, but the caller may have used "spoofing" technology to make another number appear on caller ID.
Sheriff's deputies say Town of Windsor employees never call to ask for personal information over the phone.
