Healdsburg Gas Leak Impacts 280 PG&E Customers
PG&E says gas service had to be shut off when a contractor not affiliated with PG&E struck a gas line.
HEALDSBURG, CA — Some 280 PG&E customers were left without natural gas service Tuesday when a third-party contractor not affiliated with the utility company struck a 4-inch steel pipe, causing a natural gas leak.
The leak was reported around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of South Fitch Mountain Road near the Russian River, PG&E Spokeswoman Deanna Contreras told Patch.
PG&E and the Healdsburg fire and police departments responded to the incident.

The flow of gas was stopped by 12:20 p.m. but PG&E had to shut off gas to 280 customers in the area, Contreras said.
Crews were expected to complete repairs by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Gas experts are on standby so that once repairs are done, they can go door to door to restart service and relight pilot lights.
Customers are advised to not try and relight their pilot lights on their own, Contreras said.
"PG&E will knock on the door and if the customer is not home, we will leave a note telling them to call us right away," Contreras said.
