Ribbon Cutting: Hwy 101 Interchange In Sonoma County
The new and improved interchange project is complete.

Petaluma and Sonoma County officials are celebrating the completion of a U.S. Highway 101 interchange project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning.
The Highway 101-Old Redwood Highway interchange project in Petaluma will include a new overpass with four traffic lanes, new two-lane on- and off-ramps and a bicycle lane in each direction at the interchange, Caltrans spokesman Allyn Amsk said.
Highway 101 also was widened to accommodate standard shoulder widths and sound walls that were built next to the existing sound walls along southbound Highway 101, Amsk said.

The $41 million project received $4.6 million from state funding, $19.8 million from the county’s Measure M and $16.5 million from the city of Petaluma, Amsk said.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in April 2013. Amsk said there were some traffic challenges during the project but it was finished on schedule.
